Beverly Ferguson Deevy is a painter for today. Central to Ms. Deevy's
philosophy is the traditional role of artist as apprentice, practitioner,
and teacher. She feels strongly about her responsibility to carry the
thread of those who have preceded her. Ms. Deevy lives this principle
by honoring the tenets of classical approaches to painting while incorporating
them into a new framework. Her artistic goal is to obtain a full expression
while maintaining economy of brushstroke...less is more.
Her peers have repeatedly honored Beverly Ferguson Deevy. She has twice
received the prestigious Pastel Society of America Award in competitions
attracting the worlds premier pastelists. Ms. Deevy is recognized
also for her skillful capturing of the human likeness through the receipt
of The Philip Isenberg Award for Outstanding Portrait at the Pen and
Brush Club in New York City.
The work of Beverly Ferguson Deevy is viewed worldwide. She has had
the honor of seeing her paintings grace the cover of and the content
of The Artists Magazine, and of having her images included in
several instructional texts. Most recently, Ms. Deevy was proud to have
four paintings from her Nantucket Series included in the permanent collection
of the Polaroid Corporations Museum Replica Collection.
